[Classified Information:] The Military Cross was awarded to Lt. Millan during a VIP-Rescue operation in the Gulf of Aden. Amongst others a security advisor of the current prime minister was held hostage on the captured luxury liner. As a member of a three headed team, Lt. Millan infiltrated the liner under the cover of the night. At that point, contact to the team was lost for 27 hours. During that period, a surveillance plane reported several cases of gunfire and a major explosion aboard the ship. When reinforcements arrived, all of the hostage-takers (who were identified as a crew of Somali pirates) as well as the two other members of the SAS team were found KIA. No sign of Lt. Millan or the VIP could be found, until six days later a Hungarian freighter reported a small vessel flying a jolly roger. When the vessel was approached by a speedboat of the royal marines, the two persons aboard were identified as the VIP and Lt. Millan, both in bad shape but alive.
